Foreword
(Iblees is another name for Shaytan, which is another name for Satan.)
Allah Creates Man
When He told the angels about this, they felt that perhaps they had displeased Him by being disobedient. They asked Allah whether He was going to create a creature will make mischief and shed blood on earth, while they, the angels, will follow Allah’s orders without question; they only knew of worshipping Him. But Allah assured them: “I know what you know not, and I know the wisdom why I appoint My representative, which you know not. I will Create that which I will, and appoint as My representative whom I will, for you shall see what is now not clear. When I have fashioned him and put My spirit into him then all of you shall bow down to him (man).”
So Allah made Adam, the man, from clay/earth and put into him His own spirit (Divine Energy) ,and life ticked through Adam’s body and he became the first fully-fledged human being of our species. Then Allah gave him knowledge better than His other creation.
The knowledge possessed by angels is limited to the duties, but man has been given the power to increase his knowledge, and through it he can understand many things in the universe, and perhaps beyond it. The Holy Quran says: “And He taught Adam the nature of all things (on earth); then He drew the attention of the angels do these things, saying “Tell Me the nature of these things if what you say is true.” The angels replied: “Glory to Thee, of knowledge we have none except that which Thou has taught us. In truth, it is Thee Who are perfect in knowledge and wisdom. Then Allah said Adam: “Convey to them the names (attributes or knowledge) of these things. And as soon as Adam described them, Allah said (to the angels): “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth and that I know what you say and what you hide?”
Defiant Iblees
Then Allah ordered the angels to prostrate before Adam (to admit to man’s superiority). They immediately obeyed the command except Ibless. He was haughty and refused to submit. Allah asked Iblees: “What stopped you from prostrating before that which I have created. Are you too proud?” Arrogantly, Iblees replied: “I am better than him. Thou have created me from fire, and him from clay.”
Iblees Punished
Allah punished Iblees for his disobedience, saying: “Get out of here, (from the state of Paradise or state of Bliss) for you are an outcast and My Curse is on you until the Day of Judgement.” Iblees pleaded for a delay, until the Day of Judgement, and Allah granted his plea: “You are allowed to survive until the appointed time,” said Allah.
Instead of showing his appreciation for this delay, Iblees remained defiant and told his Lord: “During the delay Thou has granted me I will do my utmost to prove that Man does not deserve the high rank Thou has given him. I will expose his ungratefulness and disloyalty to Thee.” Iblees was now free to mislead Man with misunderstanding, suspicion and whispering. But he was told by Allah that he will not be able to mislead or harm those who follow in Allah’s way, but anyone who will walk the path of Iblees will follow him to the fires of Hell.
Creation of Eve
After creating Adam, Allah Created a mate for him, as his wife and companion. She was named Hawwa (Eve). Adam was full of joy for these blessings of Allah. The couple was allowed to live in the Garden of Paradise, to enjoy everything therein, But they were warned not to go near a certain tree or eat of its fruit. If they did so, it would be disobedience to Allah.
The Revenge of Iblees
Iblees was unhappy to see that Adam and Eve were allowed the joy of Paradise while he was thrown out of it. So he decided to destroy their happiness. He blamed Man for his degraded position. He would take his revenge by lowering the position of man. So he made a plan.
He approached Adam and his wife, and told them that if they ate of the forbidden fruit they would never die and would enjoy the beauty and peace of Paradise in ‘the Kingdom that never decays’ (20:120). At first Adam refused to listen to him, but Iblees would not take ‘no’ for an answer. He was a great bluffer and a sweet talker. He repeatedly frightened Adam and Eve that they would soon lose the joy of life, and of Paradise, but they did not eat the fruit of the tree.
They fell into his trap because Iblees took an oath by Allah’s Name that he was telling the truth and they believed him. Thus they ate of the forbidden fruit. Immediately they became aware of their nakedness, with the feeling of shame covered their private parts with leaves.
Allah Reminded them that He had warned them not to eat of the fruit of the tree, and that Iblees was the enemy. They accepted their mistake and they were sorry. They begged Allah: “Lord, we have wronged ourselves! If Thou Forgive us not and have no Mercy on us, then surely we are doomed.” Allah warned them to be on their guard against evil whisperings of Iblees and then pardoned their disobedience ♥
Allah Instructed them to leave Paradise and to settle on Earth, the destination for which they were created and where He had Provided them with all their needs. He also Reminded them that the enmity between Iblees and them would remain, and only those who follow Allah’s Path would be Protected and Blessed. They were also told that some of the children would be enemies to one another.

The lesson
- Allah has honoured man by putting His Own Spirit in him and by giving him knowledge.
- Man is physical, mental and spiritual by nature. The Spirit of Allah, eman and the knowledge of Allah has given him makes him higher than all other life.
- Jinn is also a creature or force with reasoning powers and a free will; Some are pious and others are evil.
- Haughtiness and arrogantance of Iblees was his downfall.
- Iblees or Shaytaan or Satan or evil inclination is the enemy of man and misled Adam and Eve to forget Allah’s Command.
- Man’s desire to live forever was the cause of his disobedience.
- Men are surrounded by evil forces and the whisperings. This encourages man to reject belief in Allah or to defy His Commands.
- Even if shaytan managers to mislead us there is still hope in the forgiveness and mercy from Allah.
- Allah is Most-Gracious and Most-Merciful ♥
