Have you ever thought of how the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum spent their Fajr mornings?
Imâm Al-Awzâ’î RA once said:
"At the time of Fajr, or a while before it, the Salaf would be as if birds were sitting on their heads: (still ) concentrating on themselves [and their worship], so much so that even if one of their closest friends came to them after having been parted from them, they would not notice him.
They would remain in this state until just before sunrise. Then, they would meet each other and sit in the circles.
The first thing they would discuss is the matter of their afterlife and what would become of them in the hereafter. Then they would begin the circles of Quran and Fiqh study.”
Subhan’Allaah look how they were spending the time worthy of praises and glorification of Allaah! Subhan’Allaah!
Indeed, they are the companions of the Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wassalaam, such were their characters, such were their iman, such were men who were chosen by Allaah to be the companions of His Messenger both here in the dunya and in the akhirah, they were shining stars of this Ummah.
They were bodies of iman so full of noor, that they upheld the commands of Allaah saying;
[2] "So be patient over what they say and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied."
These are the people who we have to look up to, emulate and set as inspirations for us to become better Muslims and that we are able to save our souls and live our lives in proper obedience and guidance to and from Allaah. in sha Allaah.
Don’t we feel so much shame after reading this? When some of us don’t even “try” to have the niyyah to wake up for Fajr? Look at these people, they spent so little less on sleeping, they kept awake praising and glorifying Allaah.
This is not to make you depressed or disappoint you, these stories should rather make you inspired and eager to emulate their characteristics, when we love someone when we adore someone we desire so much to be with them, so if you love the sahabah, if you love Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wassalaam and of course if you love Allaah, then strive to become better, be obedient to Him, so that in the end, you can be with Him at the end of your journey. in sha Allaah.
It’s never too late to repent and ask for His Forgiveness. Start now. in sha Allaah.
_____
and we pray that Allaah bestows upon us the love and fear for Him that we are able to sincerely abide to His commands and live our lives in proper obedience to Him.
Amin.
